My Red Soaks by James Kelly
When Kaleb steps into a puddle, the red socks he is wearing soaks up the water. When he tells his mother ‘they are now red soaks,’ she explains that they are socks that are wet, and therefore are called wet socks. He insists that they should be called wet soaks. Unable to convince him otherwise, she gives in and allows him to use his imagination.
